This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Leader, Mid-Atlantic (Bluegrass) based in the United States.
This senior commercial leadership role will guide and develop a high-performing field team across a multi-state market spanning Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Ohio. You will be responsible for translating national brand strategies into focused local execution while driving strong customer engagement and business performance. The role combines people leadership, coaching, commercial strategy, and cross-functional collaboration across Neurology, Rheumatology, and future therapeutic areas. You will work closely with market leadership and teams across clinical, commercial, training, and customer-facing functions to address market needs and unlock opportunities. Success will depend on your ability to develop talent, strengthen execution, and maintain a patient-focused approach in a dynamic specialty healthcare environment. Accountabilities:- Lead and develop Territory Business Managers across the Mid-Atlantic market, fostering trust, accountability, ownership, and consistently high performance.
- Provide ongoing field coaching, feedback, performance management, and individualized development plans to strengthen commercial capabilities.
- Translate national brand and indication strategies into clear, actionable priorities aligned with local market needs and account opportunities.
- Partner with market leadership to incorporate field execution into local market plans, resource allocation, and strategic priorities.
- Identify market-level challenges and opportunities and coordinate cross-functional solutions to improve customer engagement and business results.
- Identify capability gaps and deliver targeted development in partnership with Field Training and Commercial Readiness teams.
- Collaborate across field medical, clinical, commercial, and customer-facing functions to ensure coordinated and effective market execution.
- Establish clear expectations and monitor key performance indicators such as call quality, vial attainment, patient starts, and other relevant commercial measures.
- Recognize strong individual and team performance while providing clear, consistent feedback and accountability.
- Share market insights, customer trends, best practices, and performance observations with market and enterprise leadership.
- Reinforce compliant, ethical, patient-focused decision-making and serve as a role model for the organization’s leadership principles.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive pharmaceutical sales or commercial leadership experience, including previous field management responsibility.
- Demonstrated success leading, coaching, and developing sales teams to achieve ambitious commercial objectives.
- Experience in rare disease, specialty pharmaceuticals, or biologics markets is strongly preferred.
- Strong clinical, scientific, and business acumen, particularly within Neurology and Rheumatology.
- Solid understanding of the U.S. healthcare and payer landscape, including specialty distribution and buy-and-bill models.
- Familiarity with infusion- and injection-based therapies is preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across diverse teams and disciplines.
- Solution-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable operating in a dynamic, complex, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop talent, inspire teams, provide constructive feedback, and drive accountability.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to connect national strategy with local customer and market realities.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, up to 80% of the time.
- Must live within the assigned market covering Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, and Ohio; relocation benefits are not provided.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring visa or employment sponsorship.
Benefits:
- Annual base salary hiring range of $204,000–$280,500.
