Company Description

Our client is a leader in EV charging infrastructure and fleet electrification, providing cutting-edge solutions for large-scale fleet operators transitioning to zero-emission transport. As a trusted partner in the industry, we specialize in charge management systems, energy optimization, and technical consulting to ensure seamless EV infrastructure deployment. We work with some of the largest fleets globally, solving complex technical challenges to enable a smooth transition to electric mobility.

Job Description

We are seeking a Business Development Manager with a strong sales-driven mindset, experience in business development and sales, and preferably a technical background in electrical engineering, EV charging, or fleet management and operations. This role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, building strong client relationships, and managing the pre-sales process for municipal and utility fleet electrification projects. The ideal candidate will have a blend of business development expertise and technical knowledge, particularly in electrical systems, EV infrastructure or fleet management and operations.

This role requires a proactive hunter mentality, identifying and engaging with key decision-makers, coordinating quotes, and working with stakeholders—including government fleets, OEMs, and installation teams, and internal departments—to engage in strategic selling and act as a trusted partner.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sales & Business Development: Identify, engage, and close deals with municipalities and utility fleet operators interested in EV charging infrastructure solutions.

  • Pre-Sales & Technical Sales Support: Work with prospective clients to assess their charging needs, infrastructure limitations, and fleet electrification roadmaps, translating them into tailored proposals.

  • Quote Development & Stakeholder Coordination: Gather and present pricing, installation, and commissioning quotes from charger manufacturers, electrical contractors, and infrastructure providers.

  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong long-term relationships with clients, OEMs (chargers, vehicles, infrastructure), installation teams, and internal departments to ensure smooth execution and future upsell opportunities.

  • Consultative Selling & Strategic Growth: Act as a trusted advisor, educating clients on EV charging technology, fleet transition best practices, and operational challenges while positioning solutions that fit their needs.

  • Market Intelligence & Industry Trends: Stay informed about EV industry trends, regulatory developments, and competitive landscape to identify new business opportunities and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications

Must-Have Skills & Experience (Ranked in Importance)

  1. Sales & Relationship Management – Proven track record in business development, pre-sales, or sales roles involving technical or infrastructure solutions. Strong ability to build trust and close deals.

  2. Stakeholder Coordination – Ability to coordinate effectively with multiple stakeholders, including customers, OEMs, installation teams, utilities, and internal departments to ensure successful sales and commissioning.

  3. Pre-Sales & Quoting Experience – Experience developing and managing quotations, proposals, and pricing structures for complex technical projects.

  4. Technical Background – Comfortable working in technical environments and experience with EV charging or fleets.

  5. Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting Mindset – Ability to work across multiple disciplines (electrical, telecommunications, software) to troubleshoot project roadblocks and find solutions for customers.

  6. Self-Starter with Strategic Selling Approach – Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment, taking initiative to identify new business opportunities and drive sales growth.

Nice-to-Have Skills & Experience

  • Flexibility & Adaptability – Comfortable with evolving customer requirements, changes in project scope, and emerging EV charging technologies.

  • Knowledge of EV Charging Protocols & Infrastructure – Familiarity with OCPP, charging network management, and fleet depot charging strategies.

  • Experience in the EV Industry – Previous experience working with EV charging infrastructure, electric vehicle OEMs, or fleet electrification projects.

  • Government & Utility Fleet Connections – Existing relationships with municipal fleet managers, utilities, or government agencies involved in electrification initiatives.

Additional Information

  • Remote Work & Travel: The role is remote, but requires 20-30% travel to meet with clients, attend industry events, and support pre-sales activities.

  • Reporting Line: Reports to the Head of Municipals and collaborates across sales, engineering, and product teams.

  • Startup Culture: Ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment, takes ownership of their role, and is motivated by strategic sales and relationship-building.
