This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Business Development Director, Biospecimen based in United States.

This role is an opportunity to drive commercial growth within the life sciences sector by expanding access to specialized biospecimen solutions.
The position focuses on building strategic relationships with biotech, pharmaceutical, and healthcare organizations.
You will identify new business opportunities, manage key accounts, and develop partnerships that support innovative research and clinical programs.
Working closely with scientific, operational, and commercial teams, you will help deliver tailored solutions to complex customer needs.
The role combines consultative selling, market development, and relationship management in a highly technical environment.

Accountabilities:

The Business Development Director will be responsible for driving revenue growth by identifying, developing, and closing opportunities for biospecimen products and related services. This role requires strong customer engagement, strategic planning, and collaboration across internal teams to deliver successful business outcomes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Identify and pursue new opportunities for biospecimen solutions, including biofluids, prospective collections, tissues, cells, and specialty laboratory services.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, prospects, and decision-makers within target organizations.
  • Develop account strategies to retain and expand existing customer relationships through cross-selling and portfolio growth opportunities.
  • Qualify inbound leads, follow up on marketing-generated opportunities, and maintain a strong sales pipeline.
  • Prospect for new clients within assigned markets and conduct needs assessments to identify business opportunities.
  • Manage the full sales cycle, from initial engagement through negotiation, closing, and long-term account development.
  • Collaborate with scientific experts, business development teams, marketing, clinical operations, laboratory operations, and project management teams to support customer success.
  • Maintain accurate customer information, sales activity, and performance metrics within Salesforce and other CRM platforms.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and client meetings to strengthen market presence and generate new opportunities.
  • Ensure customer concerns are addressed quickly by coordinating with the appropriate internal stakeholders.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will bring a combination of life sciences knowledge, business development expertise, and strong relationship-building skills. They should be comfortable working independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams in a technical and evolving environment. Required qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related scientific field.
  • 1–2 years of sales experience within the Life Sciences or Healthcare industry, or 3+ years of experience in laboratory research, clinical operations, services, or customer support within life sciences.
  • Experience developing client relationships and managing business opportunities in technical or scientific environments.
  • Strong understanding of life sciences terminology, research processes, and customer needs.
  • Ability to independently manage priorities, build strategic plans, and achieve business objectives.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
  • Creative and strategic mindset with the ability to adapt and execute in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team while taking ownership of individual goals.
  • Willingness to travel up to 35%, including domestic and international travel with occasional overnight stays.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as required.
  • Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of relevant life sciences experience and academic specialization in a related scientific discipline.
