This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an AVP Information Technology based in United States.

This is a senior IT leadership role responsible for driving application development strategy and execution across a complex, multi-line insurance organization.
You will lead a large, distributed development organization spanning multiple business domains, including Life & Retirement, P&C, Supplemental & Group, and Corporate functions.
The role requires a strong balance of hands-on technical credibility and executive-level leadership across engineering managers and development teams.
You will act as a transformation leader, modernizing legacy systems while introducing scalable, cloud-native and AI-enabled solutions.
A key focus is translating business priorities into actionable technology roadmaps that deliver measurable outcomes.
You will also play a critical role in shaping modernization strategy, reducing technical debt, and improving delivery efficiency across the enterprise.
This position offers high visibility, broad scope, and the opportunity to materially influence enterprise technology direction.

Accountabilities:

Lead end-to-end application development strategy and execution across a large, multi-line insurance technology portfolio, ensuring alignment with business goals and modernization priorities.

Oversee development teams supporting Guidewire, P&C legacy systems, Life & Retirement, Supplemental & Group, Distribution, and corporate applications.
Drive enterprise-wide modernization initiatives, reducing technical debt and transitioning legacy systems toward cloud-native architectures.
Own roadmap planning and prioritization across multiple business units with competing needs and dependencies.
Establish scalable engineering practices, delivery standards, and governance frameworks to improve execution consistency.
Partner with business and technology leaders to translate strategic objectives into delivery plans and measurable outcomes.
Guide AI adoption and modernization strategies, including integration of AI-powered applications and developer productivity tools.
Ensure operational excellence across a 30+ person organization, including both engineering managers and individual contributors.

Requirements:

This role requires deep technical leadership experience in complex, regulated enterprise environments, particularly within insurance or similarly structured industries.

12+ years of application development or engineering leadership experience, including senior management of large teams.
Proven experience leading 30+ person development organizations with multiple engineering managers.
Strong background in application architecture, cloud platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
Hands-on experience with Guidewire or comparable P&C insurance platforms strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success leading large-scale legacy modernization and transformation programs.
Experience building and delivering AI-powered applications, not just theoretical AI knowledge.
Familiarity with insurance systems (policy, claims, billing) across P&C and Life domains is a strong plus.
Experience with low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Power Platform, Mendix, OutSystems) is an advantage.
Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders across business units.
Proven ability to lead through ambiguity, manage competing priorities, and develop high-performing engineering leaders.
