This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Associate Principal BI Platform Engineer based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to become the technical owner of a modern business intelligence and analytics ecosystem supporting critical business decisions.
You will lead the administration, governance, security, and optimization of enterprise BI platforms while enabling secure access to data for analytics and AI-driven solutions.
Working across technology, security, and business teams, you will translate complex requirements into scalable data architectures and reliable reporting capabilities.
The position combines hands-on engineering, platform strategy, automation, and stakeholder collaboration in a mission-driven environment.
You will help shape how organizations leverage trusted data by improving accessibility, governance, and operational efficiency.

Accountabilities:

As an Associate Principal BI Platform Engineer, you will own the end-to-end management and evolution of business intelligence platforms, ensuring reliability, security, governance, and performance. You will act as a strategic technical partner, connecting business needs with scalable data solutions while supporting emerging analytics and AI capabilities.

  • Administer and optimize Microsoft Fabric environments, including tenants, capacities, workspaces, OneLake ecosystems, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pipelines, and Dataflows.
  • Manage Power BI environments, including tenant settings, workspace governance, gateways, semantic models, and dataset refresh processes.
  • Establish and enforce governance standards to improve content management, certified reporting, sharing practices, and platform scalability.
  • Design and implement security controls using role-based access, identity management, least-privilege principles, and data protection practices.
  • Build automation solutions for BI operations and CI/CD processes using REST APIs, PowerShell, and workflow automation tools.
  • Develop and maintain secure data integration pipelines connecting multiple data sources, including operational databases and external APIs.
  • Own the data access layer supporting BI tools and AI-powered data agents, ensuring secure, auditable, and role-based access.
  • Partner with security teams to define authentication and authorization patterns for sensitive data environments.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications, data models, and scalable solutions.
  • Drive continuous improvements across platform performance, reliability, cost management, and operational processes.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings deep experience managing enterprise BI platforms, strong data engineering knowledge, and the ability to bridge technical and business needs. You should be comfortable owning complex systems independently while collaborating with multiple teams to deliver secure and effective analytics solutions.

  • 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft data and analytics platforms, with hands-on ownership of BI solutions in production environments.
  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Fabric, Power BI administration, workspace governance, and OneLake architecture.
  • Experience building and maintaining data integration pipelines across diverse sources, including operational systems, engineering databases, and third-party APIs.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Entra ID, RBAC, identity management, security controls, data classification, encryption, auditing, and governance best practices.
  • Experience with Microsoft Purview or similar data governance solutions is highly valuable.
  • Proficiency with PowerShell scripting, REST APIs, and automation frameworks.
  • Ability to design scalable data solutions while balancing performance, security, usability, and cost considerations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize competing initiatives, and make sound architectural decisions.
