This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Appian Developer - Clearance Required based in the United States.

This is an opportunity to build and enhance mission-critical applications supporting federal contracting and acquisition operations.
You will develop scalable solutions on the Appian platform while working across application design, integrations, databases, testing, and deployment.
The role combines hands-on development with close collaboration across technical, functional, and government stakeholder teams.
You will contribute to secure, reliable, and user-friendly systems in a structured Agile and DevSecOps environment.
Your work will directly support modernization efforts and improve complex government business processes.
The position is fully remote and offers the opportunity to work on high-impact technology initiatives within the federal sector.
Candidates should be comfortable working in a security-conscious environment and holding or obtaining an active Secret clearance.


Accountabilities
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain Appian applications, including SAIL interfaces, process models, data models, business rules, records, data types, and integrations.
  • Translate functional and technical requirements into scalable, efficient, and user-friendly Appian solutions supporting contract writing and related business processes.
  • Configure and optimize Appian workflows, interfaces, rules, expressions, reports, dashboards, and application components while following established development standards.
  • Design and implement integrations with external systems and data sources using REST, SOAP, Web APIs, SFTP, HTTPS, and other approved technologies.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries and database interactions to support application performance, reliability, and data integrity.
  • Support application deployments, environment promotions, configuration activities, troubleshooting, and production releases across the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with solution architects, functional subject-matter experts, QA professionals, DevSecOps engineers, database administrators, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototypes, demonstrations, and working sessions with government stakeholders and technical teams.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure solutions meet application security, accessibility, and engineering standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex application defects, integration issues, performance problems, and data discrepancies, driving issues through to resolution.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, training materials, and application support documentation.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to continuous improvement, modernization, and process optimization initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 years of professional software development experience, including a minimum of 2 years developing applications with Appian.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Appian concepts including SAIL, process modeling, data modeling, integrations, rules and expressions, records, and data types.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications on the Appian platform, with strong knowledge of application lifecycle and production support practices.
  • Experience with SQL, relational databases, RESTful APIs, web services, and enterprise application integrations.
  • Experience working within Agile software development environments and collaborating effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Active Secret security clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain one, along with U.S. citizenship.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with architects, engineers, functional experts, government stakeholders, and other partners while managing multiple priorities.
  • Appian Associate Developer, Senior Developer, or Lead Developer certification is desirable.
  • Additional experience with Appian Cloud, Appian Government Acquisition Management capabilities, plug-in development, Java/JEE, Spring, or Appian Smart Services is a plus.
  • Familiarity with LDAP, Active Directory, SSO, SAML, certificates, enterprise APIs, ESB, SFTP, SOAP/WSDL, or related identity and integration technologies is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of federal acquisition processes, including FAR, DFARS, or Procure-to-Pay, is beneficial.
  • Experience with Section 508 accessibility requirements and secure software development practices is preferred.
