The API Security Engineer will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of an organization’s API ecosystem. This role combines cybersecurity expertise, software development skills, and analytical thinking to identify vulnerabilities, implement secure design practices, and drive automation across API environments. The ideal candidate will develop security policies, collaborate with internal teams, and provide actionable insights to enhance overall API security. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, innovative environment focused on cutting-edge technologies, cloud platforms, and proactive security strategies. The role also includes contributing to security process improvement, threat analysis, and ensuring compliance with best practices across multiple systems.
· Develop and enforce security policies across the API ecosystem.
· Collaborate with internal teams to understand API processes, flows, and limitations.
· Identify and remediate vulnerabilities across systems, including cloud and vehicle/mobility domains.
· Automate routine tasks and implement solutions for recurring security events.
· Provide insights to management on API misconfigurations, gaps, and process improvements.
· Build, manage, and optimize security tools, systems, and processes with high accountability.
· Maintain up-to-date documentation, including policies, processes, and remediation strategies.
· Perform additional duties as required to support cybersecurity initiatives.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
· 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on API security or application security.
· Experience with cloud platforms, networking, and general infrastructure security concepts.
· Knowledge of vulnerabilities, ethical hacking, and secure design principles.
· Familiarity with API tools and standards, such as API Management, Swagger/OpenAPI, and API catalogs.
· Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or C/C++.
· Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
· Participation in cybersecurity initiatives, competitions, or relevant practical experience is a plus.
