As an AI Developer, you will play a key role in building and deploying advanced AI applications that support innovation in federal healthcare programs. You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and healthcare experts to design intelligent solutions that drive efficiency, improve patient outcomes, and enhance decision-making. This role involves working with large-scale healthcare datasets, developing secure AI models, and ensuring compliance with federal IT standards. It is a fully remote position that offers the opportunity to contribute to impactful projects at the intersection of technology and healthcare, while collaborating within a highly skilled and mission-driven team.

Accountabilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement AI solutions that meet healthcare program needs.
  • Develop, test, and maintain AI-enabled software using machine learning, NLP, and computer vision.
  • Build and optimize dashboards, algorithms, and tools for large-scale healthcare datasets such as EHRs, claims, and clinical data.
  • Integrate AI components into secure federal IT environments while ensuring compliance with HIPAA, FISMA, and FedRAMP standards.
  • Conduct debugging, model validation, and performance optimization for AI applications.
  • Create technical documentation, user manuals, and support materials to ensure adoption and maintainability.
  • Monitor and retrain models to maintain accuracy, fairness, and relevance over time.
  • Participate in Agile and DevSecOps practices to ensure iterative development and secure deployment.
  • Stay updated on AI advancements, ethical considerations, and federal healthcare regulations to contribute to best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in AI/ML development, data science, or software engineering.
  • Experience working with healthcare data in regulated environments.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, or Java and in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-learn.
  • Background in NLP, computer vision, or time-series modeling applied to healthcare.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and cloud services (AWS, Azure, or federal cloud environments).
  • Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD tools (Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Understanding of APIs, healthcare data standards, and compliance requirements (HIPAA, FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
  • Master’s degree, prior experience with VA/HHS/DoD programs, or familiarity with EHR systems (Cerner, VistA/CPRS) preferred.
