Summary


NCD is looking for an experienced Actuarial Analyst to join our growing Product Development team at NCD. In this role, you will support the end-to-end development of supplemental health insurance products by contributing actuarial expertise, carrier-side insights, and market research analysis.

You will collaborate closely with product strategy leaders and carrier partners to ensure new plan designs are priced appropriately, filed effectively, and positioned competitively. This is a high-impact role focused on accelerating ideation and design with strong actuarial grounding.


Key Responsibilities


·        Conduct actuarial and market research using SERFF, DOI filings, and competitor insights.

·        Evaluate proposed benefit designs for pricing feasibility and alignment with loss ratio targets.

·        Collaborate with carriers’ actuarial and underwriting teams to validate pricing models.

·        Provide pricing recommendations based on product comparisons, rate structures, and benefit trends.

·        Prepare or support materials for filing justifications with state DOIs.

·        Raise red flags on unprofitable structures or poor risk design, with supporting actuarial logic.

·        Support performance tracking and experience modeling for existing products.

·        Stay current on pricing and regulatory trends in the A&H market.


Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of actuarial experience in health or supplemental insurance, preferably within a carrier environment.
  • Working knowledge of rating methodologies, pricing, and performance analysis for Dental, Vision, and other Excepted Benefit products.
  • Experience using SERFF and analyzing DOI product filings.
  • Strong Excel and actuarial modeling skills.
  • Excellent critical thinking and communication skills.

Bonus

  • ASA designation or exam progress preferred.
  • Experience with Major Medical or Short-Term Medical products.
  • Experience with group/association business models.
  • Familiarity with carrier filing processes and regulatory cycles.
  • Experience working in A&H claims processing or adjudication, with insight into how claims behavior informs plan design.
