This role is a key finance leadership position responsible for overseeing the full accounting close process within a dynamic, multi-site distribution environment. You will ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across monthly, quarterly, and annual cycles, while maintaining strong compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal control standards. Acting as a critical partner to both operations and corporate finance teams, you will translate complex business activity into accurate financial results and actionable insights. The environment is fast-paced, operationally driven, and highly collaborative, requiring strong ownership and attention to detail. You will also play a central role in strengthening internal controls, supporting audits, and improving accounting processes. This is a high-impact role where your work directly supports operational performance and financial transparency across the organization.
Accountabilities- Lead and manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process for assigned distribution locations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Review and approve journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform financial statement reviews and variance analysis to identify trends, explain fluctuations, and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure close deliverables align with corporate timelines, policies, and reporting requirements.
- Oversee accounting for distribution activities including inventory, freight, leases, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, and related accruals.
- Partner with site leadership and operations teams to align financial results with business performance and operational activity.
- Maintain strong internal controls by overseeing SOX compliance, reconciliation standards, and policy adherence.
- Support internal and external audits, including SEC reporting requirements, by providing documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Lead, coach, and develop accounting team members, fostering accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to process improvements, financial analysis, budgeting support, and cross-functional initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including operational, distribution, manufacturing, or corporate accounting environments.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial close processes, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis.
- Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, and audit support in a structured environment.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across finance and operational teams.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Excel; experience with tools such as SAP, TM1, or FloQast is a plus.
- Experience in distribution, logistics, supply chain, manufacturing, or multi-site operations preferred.
