This role supervises accounting staff, manages the outsourced accounting firm, and plays a key part in month-end close, audit preparation, and process improvement. This position reports to the interim CFO.</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li class="p1">Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries in accordance with professional standards</li><li class="p1">Ownership of full accounting operations, including AR, AP, cash management, payroll and GL</li><li class="p1">Supervise inhouse accounting personnel and manage an outsourced accounting team</li><li class="p1">Ensure balance sheet accounts are reconciled</li><li class="p1">Perform month-end and year-end close activities</li><li class="p1">Ensure financial data integrity by reconciling data between multiple data sourcesEnsuring consistent accounting controls and processes are implemented</li><li class="p1">Calculate commissions on a monthly basis</li><li class="p1">Reconcile and file sales, use and general excise taxes</li><li class="p1">Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis</li><li class="p1">Reconcile, review and ensure payroll tax compliance</li><li class="p1">Ensuring consistent accounting controls and processes are implemented</li><li class="p1">Identify areas for process improvements </li><li class="p1">Coordinate and manage external financial audit and tax filings</li><li class="p1">Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting</li><li class="p1">Other duties as assigned</li></ul><p><strong><br></strong><strong>About You: </strong></p><ul><li class="p1">Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required, CPA a plus</li><li>Advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel; experience with Google Sheets a plus</li><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees</li><li>Ability to work well in a fast paced environment with project deadlines</li><li>4+ years of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a fast-paced technology software environment</li><li>Strong analytical and communication (oral and written) skills</li><li>Strong organizational skills, attentive to detail, and ability to multitask</li><li>Quick learner with the ability to work with little or no supervision</li><li>Ability to identify and help implement potential process improvements and controls</li><li>In-depth understanding of US GAAP</li><li>Experience in ASC 606 and ASC 842 preferred</li><li>Experience in Sage Intacct ERP a plus</li><li>Experience with Salesforce.com CRM a plus</li><li>Experience with SaaS preferred</li><li>Prior supervisory experience a plus</li></ul><p><strong> Why SchoolMint?</strong><br>Join a supportive, mission-driven company that values growth, collaboration, and innovation.
